The Southern Connecticut State University men's team will look to continue their storied success by claiming their tenth consecutive crown after winning the previous nine Northeast-10 Championships.

The Owls scored 158 points to secure last year's championship title, holding off Stonehill College, which finished second on the men's side with 105 points.

On the women's side, So. Connecticut will look to make it back-to-back titles as they won last year's championship meet. The Owls scored 155 points, while The University of Massachusetts Lowell finished second with 113 points, and The University of New Haven was third with 112 points.

Prior to last year's So. Connecticut championship on the women's side, UMass Lowell was the winner in 2009 and 2010.

Athletes to Watch – Men's

UMass Lowell's Evan White will be looking to better his NCAA Qualifying times in both the 200- meter dash (21.32) and 400-meter dash (47.25), while Adelphi University's Mychael Fabio will be competing with White in both races. Fabio's times in both events (21.47 in the 200m, 47.26 in the 400m) have also qualified him for NCAA Division II National Competitions later this year.

So. Connecticut's Josh Perry, pictured, will be looking to lead the Owls to their tenth straight NE-10 title as he competes in the 800m and 1000m runs. Perry's times this winter are among the best in the conference in each event.

Stonehill's Corey Thomas, the defending national champion in the high jump, will be looking to better his season-best jump of 2.14 meters on Saturday.

Athletes to Watch – Women's

With the departure of five-time national champion Shannon Gagne, the claim of best female athlete at the championships will be up for grabs. Among those looking to make their presence felt are: American International College's Bidemi Balogun, who has already reached an NCAA-qualifying mark in the weight throw with a toss of 18.65 meters, and the So. Connecticut duo of Ashley Bell and Brittany Brown.

Bell is a sprinting specialist that has already run Division II provisional-qualifying times in the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Brown, meanwhile, is a field specialist that leads the NE-10 in the high jump this season as she cleared 1.76m already this winter.

The Northeast-10 Championship is open to the public and tickets will be sold at the Reggie Lewis Center's ticket booth the day of the event. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for Students/Senior Citizens.

The Reggie Lewis Center seats 3,500 and contains a state-of-the-art 200-meter Mondo Super X track, an 8-lane 55-meter dash runway, and provisions for high jump, long/triple jump and pole vault. It has also been the site for a number of track & field collegiate events, including the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 5,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country.
