Defending National Champion Sets New Collegiate Record
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Merrimack senior Carly Muscaro posted a new American Collegiate record in the 500 meter dash Saturday afternoon in Boston at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet. Muscaro covered the distance in an eye-popping time of 1:09.05 to break the all-time collegiate mark.
For her efforts, Muscaro was once-again recognized as the National Women's Track Athlete of the Week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA). It's the second straight week she's been honored.
Muscaro once again laid down a blistering time in her second indoor meet of her senior campaign, this time becoming the American Collegiate record holder in the 500m dash with a time of 1:09.05. Her time is also a facility record at the prominent Boston track. The performance follows last week's 400m dash run that ranks second in the history of Division II.
