Adelphi and Le Moyne Advance to Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Title Game

The top two seeds in the 2015 NE-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship will meet in Sunday's title game following Saturday's semifinal action.

#1 Adelphi 14, #4 Stonehill 5 | BOX SCORE

Garden City, N.Y. - Behind a balanced offensive attack, Adelphi advanced to the program's sixth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship game with a 14-5 win against fourth-seeded Stonehill on Saturday afternoon on Motamed Field.

Adelphi (17-1) saw five players score two or more goals in the victory, led by a four-goal performance by Alexa FroccaroJacqueline Jahelka tallied a game high-five points (3G, 2A), while Danielle JaycoxRachel O'Brien and Felicia Mills all tallied two goals for the Panthers. 

Lauren JanelliKaitlyn Stackpole and Ryley Weber all caused two turnovers for the Panthers, while Weber won eight of Adelphi's 13 draw controls. On defense, Stonehill (15-4) got two goals from freshman Elizabeth Vetter in the loss, while keeper Ashley Armstrong made nine saves.

It was the visiting Skyhawks who got on the board first just 41 seconds into the contest when Jillian Yung beat Taylor Hayes in the Adelphi net for her 18th goal of the season to give the Purple and White a 1-0 lead. That would be the last time Adelphi trailed, however, as three consecutive scores by Froccaro, Jaycox and O'Brien turned the one-goal deficit into a 3-1 lead. 

The Panthers will host Le Moyne tomorrow, May 2, on Motamed Field at 1 p.m. in the title game.

#2 Le Moyne 11, #3 New Haven 8 | BOX SCORE

Garden City, N.Y. – Junior attacker Erica Geremia recorded six points, including the go-ahead and game-winning goals, to lead the second-seeded and fourth-ranked Le Moyne to an 11-8 victory over third-seeded and fifth-ranked New Haven on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Adelphi University's Motamed Field.

Le Moyne (17-2) advances to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game for the fourth time in its five seasons in the Northeast-10. As with the previous three championship games, the Dolphins will take on top-seeded and second-ranked Adelphi on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
 
Geremia, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, tallied the first two goals of the game. She started the scoring with her 62nd goal of the season at the 27:36 mark and then doubled her team's lead 74 seconds later. With the second goal, Geremia eclipsed the program's single-season points' record with her 107th point of the year.

The previous record of 106 was set by Brittany Brigandi '12 during the 2011 season. After a save by Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Molly Marbut, sophomore midfielder Amari Pollard netted her 44th goal of the campaign 15 seconds later after taking a pass from senior midfielder Laura Hoffman with 25:16 left.

The Chargers held the Dolphins scoreless over the next 20 minutes, while scoring three goals in the span to knot the score at three apiece. Ashley Travis got New Haven on the scoreboard with 20:07 left by converting a free-position shot. Northeast-10 Midfielder of the Year Kathryn Campbell pulled the Chargers within one by scoring off a free-position shot with 12:02 to play. Just under four minutes later, Nicole Belanger recorded her 29th goal off a feed from Caitlin O'Brien.

Le Moyne put the game away with three goals over a span of 4:14. Geremia started the run with her conference-best 65th goal of the season in an extra-man situation with 6:20 remaining. Just 73 seconds later, sophomore attacker Alexis Garbarino found the back of the net for the sixth time to get the Dolphins into double digits. She finished off Le Moyne's scoring with 2:06 left after taking a pass from senior attacker Julia Suriani.
 
Marbut finished the game with four saves to earn her 17th victory of the season between the pipes, the second-most in the program's history. Alyssa Gianotti made six saves in the loss for the Chargers.
