Since 1998, Bryan Collins has been a staple of success in Division II football – making C.W. Post, later named LIU Post, a perennial national contender beginning with its participation in the Eastern Football Conference (EFC). Collins and C.W./LIU Post transitioned to the NE10 when the league began sponsoring football in 2001, and the rest is history.
Collins accumulated a remarkable 110-29 record in NE10 play throughout C.W./LIU Post’s time in the league (1998-2008, 2013-19), good for a .791 winning percentage – the best among all NE10 head coaches with at least 100 games at the position. He is just 16 victories behind American International’s Art Wilkins for the most wins in league history, an amazing feat considering C.W./LIU’s transition to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in the late 2000s for five seasons.
As a member of the Eastern Football Conference and the NE10, Collins led his program to at least a share of nine league titles, including two of the last three seasons that LIU Post was an associate member of the NE10 (2016, 2018). In 2002, his team was the first in NE10 history to reach the NCAA Tournament. In 2005, the Pioneers reached the NCAA quarterfinals, matching the furthest an NE10 program has advanced in the NCAA Tournament in league history.
On seven occasions, he was named EFC/NE10 Coach of the Year and accounted for three unbeaten regular seasons during his tenure as a Division II head coach. Over the course of his last three seasons in the NE10, Collins led the Pioneers to a 30-4 mark, including a 12-1 record in 2016.
Following the 2018 season, LIU Post merged with LIU Brooklyn to form a Division I program for Long Island University. Collins enters his second season as the Sharks’ head coach in 2020 – his 23rd overall at LIU – as a member of the Northeast Conference.
