Bentley, Southern Connecticut Earn Top Seeds in NE-10 Men’s Basketball Championship

NE-10 Championship Opens With First-Round Games Friday

MANSFIELD, Mass. – After winning the Northeast and Southwest Divisions, respectively, the Bentley Falcons and Southern Connecticut Owls have earned the top seeds in the 2016 Northeast-10 Men's Basketball Championship, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday night.

Southern Connecticut cruised to its third straight Southwest Division title after putting together a 22-6 overall record and a 17-3 mark in the NE-10 this season. The Owls will host the winner of Friday night's first-round matchup between No. 4 NE Southern New Hampshire (18-10, 14-7 NE-10) and No. 5 SW American International (11-15, 7-13) in the quarterfinals on Sunday. 

Bentley clinched the Northeast Division crown on Tuesday night after posting an overall mark of 19-7 and 16-5 in conference play. Both Bentley and Southern Connecticut were picked to win their respective divisions in the NE-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Falcons will host the winner of Friday's second first-round game between No. 4 SW Le Moyne (10-16, 7-13 NE-10) and No. 5 NE Franklin Pierce (15-11, 12-9) in Sunday's quarterfinal round.

The nationally ranked Saint Anselm Hawks (20-6, 15-6 NE-10) garnered the second seed in the Northeast Division and will play host to third-seeded Saint Rose (13-13, 11-9) of the Southwest Division in the quarterfinals. Adelphi (20-8, 12-8) earned the Southwest's No. 2 seed and will host the third seed out of the Northeast Division, Stonehill (20-7, 15-6), on Sunday as well.

The conference semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, and will be hosted by the highest remaining seeds. The 2016 Northeast-10 Men's Basketball Championship Game will be Saturday, March 5, also hosted by the highest seed remaining. Game times will be finalized on Wednesday.

Game 4:  Game 2 winner at #1 NE Bentley (4 p.m.)
Game 5:  #3 NE Stonehill at #2 SW Adelphi (3 p.m.)
Game 6:  #3 SW Saint Rose at #2 NE Saint Anselm (4 p.m.)
