Adelphi with Six-Shot Lead Over Assumption.
LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Following 36 holes on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship, Adelphi holds a six-shot lead over reigning champion Assumption - with the final round at Twin Hills Country Club scheduled to begin on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
Adelphi had four players finish in the Top-8 on Monday, including Filip Wetterqvist, who shot a one-under (171) through two rounds. His second round of 70 (-1) matches the best among all NE10 golfers. Johnny Solari and Alec Ramos are currently tied for third at two-over (144), while Francis Lanuza is tied for eighth at five-over (147) to help Adelphi hold its current lead.
Assumption was led by Sean Magarian, who shot even par (142) - matching a Championship-best round of 70 in the first 18 holes on Monday. As a team, Assumption was 14-over (582) on Monday, six strokes back of Adelphi, which carded an eight-over (576). Saint Anselm sits in third (+21), Franklin Pierce is fourth (+24) and Southern New Hampshire is fifth (+25).
Wetterqvist and Lanuza lead all NE10 players with eight birdies through 36 holes at the Championship, while SNHU's Jack Pepin leads the field with 28 pars. Adelphi leads all teams with 31 birdies, while Assumption and SNHU are tied for the team lead with 113 pars.
