Assumption's Magarian Earns Individual Medalist Honors.

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – For the first time in a decade, Adelphi won the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday at Twin Hills Country Club - holding off two-time reigning league champion Assumption by five strokes in the 54-hole tournament.

It is Adelphi's first NE10 Championship since the 2013 season, which at the time concluded a stretch of four league titles in five years for the Panthers. Holding a six-stroke lead after Monday's rounds, Adelphi maintained its lead on Tuesday and denied Assumption a third-consecutive championship.

Adelphi shot a 14-over (866) for the Championship, led by a pair of All-Championship Team players in Filip Wetterqvist (-1) and Alec Ramos (E). Overall, the Panthers had three players finish in the top-six, including Johnny Solari (+4). Assumption finished at 19-over (871) and was led by Sean Magarian - the NE10 Individual Medalist - who shot a four-under (209) for the Championship. Magarian shot a final round of four-under (67) on Tuesday, just one stroke shy of matching the NE10 Championship record for a single round.

Saint Anselm took third place at 28-over (880), Southern New Hampshire was fourth at 32-over (884) and Bentley and Franklin Pierce tied for fifth at 46-over (898). Saint Anselm's Anthony Picano (E) and SNHU's Evan Rollins (+1) rounded-out the All-Championship Team with top-five performances. Rollins shot the best round of the Championship with a remarkable five-under (66) on Tuesday, tying the NE10 all-time record for a single round at the Championship. The mark was previously set by five other golfers - including three former SNHU golfers (Chris Rivard, Jake Nutter and Matt Paradis).

Adelphi was a model of consistency over Monday and Tuesday, posting team rounds of 288 (+4), 288 (+4) and 290 (+6). The rounds of 288 were the best among all NE10 programs, while Assumption was next best with two rounds of 289 (+5) - including the final round to stay within five strokes of the Panthers.

It was not just Adelphi's first NE10 title since 2013, but also the program's first top-three finish on the Championship leaderboard in 10 years. Head coach David Mattana led the Panthers to victory in his third season with the team.

Adelphi's Mason Rivera was named the NE10 Elite 24 Award winner with his 3.971 GPA as an Economics major. The Elite 24 honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site of each NE10 Championship.
