FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Penmen Reached NCAA Round of 16 Last Spring.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Coming off a historic season in 2018-19 that saw the team reach its first-ever NCAA round of 16, Southern New Hampshire men's tennis has been picked to repeat as Northeast-10 Conference champion, according to the Men's Tennis Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday morning.

The Penmen recorded every first-place vote they were eligible for, tallying a total of 49 points and seven first-place nods. Bentley racked up 39 points and the final first-place vote to come in second, while Le Moyne was close behind with 37 points in third.

Winners of four-straight NE10 titles under head coach Greg Coache, and five overall since 2014, SNHU returns the brotherly duo of Bas van Biezen and Willem van Biezen – a pair of NE10 First Team All-Conference players from a year ago. SNHU is a remarkable 37-0 in conference play over the past four seasons and hasn't lost a league match since the 2014-15 season.

After capturing the NE10 Championship last spring, the Penmen went on to beat Queens (NY) College in the NCAA East Regional II final to advance to the round of 16 for the first time in program history.

Bentley and Le Moyne both reached the NE10 Men's Tennis Championship semifinals in 2019, as they round-out the top three in the Coaches' Poll. Franklin Pierce received 31 points, finishing in fourth. For complete results, see below.

Saint Michael's opens spring competition this Saturday (Feb. 1) against Roberts Wesleyan, while the first league match in the NE10 season will be the Purple Knights hosting Franklin Pierce on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The NE10 Men's Tennis Championship is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed in the tournament. The first round will be on Tuesday, April 21, and the semifinals will be on Thursday, April 23.
