EASTON, Mass. - The 2014 Northeast-10
Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships got underway
with Day One action on Friday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium on
the campus of Stonehill College.
Southern Connecticut State University sits atop the men's
standings with 66 points at the conclusion of the first day of the
two-day event, while Stonehill College currently leads things in
the women's standings with 89 points.
Live results will again be available for Saturday as the men's and women's championships continue with Day Two action.
For the men on Saturday, Stonehill junior Daniel
Zawalich finished first in the 1500 meter run in
3:52.49, good for an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Stonehill senior Xavier Dixon took the
men’s 110 meter hurdles with a provisional time of 14.26.
So. Connecticut senior Nelson Laskoski
took first among conference competitors in the men’s pole
vault with a vault of 4.90 meters.
American Int’l freshman Matthew
Bowers was first in the men’s long jump with a
provisional leap of 7.35 meters.
Two reached provisional marks in the men’s hammer throw, as
Tresley Dupont set a new Northeast-10
mark in finishing first with a toss of 58.49 meters, while So.
Connecticut senior Arthur Guerra was
second at 58.03 meters.
American Int’l senior Shane
Duplice posted an NCAA automatic qualifying time in
winning the men’s javelin throw with a heave of 66.00 meters.
So. Connecticut freshman Cy McIntosh
(60.48m) and Franklin Pierce freshman Chris
Bohi (59.38m) both hit provisional standards to round
out the top-three in the event.
On the women’s side, So. Connecticut junior
Jasmine Bien-Aime (11.95) and freshman
teammate Shatajah Wattely (12.03)
finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 meter dash, as
both reached NCAA provisional qualifying times in the event.
University of New Haven junior Ada Udaya
posted a provisional time of 23.99 in winning the women’s 200
meter dash.
Stonehill senior Chelsea Bishop set the
new Northeast-10 record in the women’s 10000 meter run,
finishing first with a provisional time of 35:58.17, breaking the
previous standard by two and a half minutes.
A pair from American International College finished No. 1 and No.
2 in the women’s 100 meter hurdles, as freshman
Akayla Anderson claimed first in 14.18,
just in front of junior teammate Tonique
Sobah (14.22). Both times were good enough for NCAA
provisional marks for the Yellow Jacket student-athletes.
So. Connecticut junior Michelle Grecni
broke her own conference record in the women’s pole vault
with a mark of 3.70 meters, which also hit the NCAA provisional
standard.
American Int’l sophomore Brittany
Bryant (5.78m) and Stonehill junior Maria
Curit (5.72m) both reached provisional marks in the
women’s long jump on Friday.
