Thirty-Two Northeast-10 Student-Athletes Set to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Championships set for May 22-24 in
Allendale, Mich., hosted by Grand Valley State

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship qualifiers were announced on Tuesday evening, with 32 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes receiving invites to the three-day national competition May 22-24, hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

In all, 13 men and 19 women representing seven different Northeast-10 schools were named to the respective qualifying lists. For a complete breakdown of qualifiers from the conference, please see below.

University of New Haven junior Ada Udaya owns the top seed entering both the women's 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash prelims, and will also run for the Chargers' qualifying 4x400 meter relay team. The West Haven, Conn. native was last week named the 2014 Northeast-10 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. 

Southern Connecticut State University freshman Shatajah Wattely will compete in four events, as she is seeded eighth in the 100 meters and 10th in the 200 meters, and will also compete on both the Owls' 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.

New Haven and So. Connecticut will both send six student-athletes apiece to Allendale.

On the men's side, So. Connecticut junior Michael Cameron, the 2014 Northeast-10 Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, will compete in both the shot put and the discus. He is the eighth seed in the shot put and 19th in the discus throw.

American International College sophomore Michael Biwott is seeded fifth seed in both the men's 5000 and 10000 meter runs.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
