Baseball Coaches' Poll

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2020 Baseball Season Begins on Feb. 13.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire and Adelphi, the teams that won Northeast-10 Conference regular season titles a year ago in their respective divisions, have been chosen to finish first yet again in the 2020 NE10 Baseball Coaches' Poll, as announced on Friday.

It is the fourth-straight year that the Penmen have been selected to win the Northeast Division by the league's head coaches. For the Panthers, it is their first time atop the Southwest Division in the Coaches' Poll since 2017. Full results are in the graphic below.

Southern New Hampshire collected all first-place votes it was eligible to receive, garnering 13 tallies and 91 overall points, while Franklin Pierce – the reigning NE10 champion – collected 73 points and the final first-place vote for a second-place finish. Bentley came in third with 71 points and Assumption was fourth with 54.

Three teams were in the mix for the top spot in the Southwest Division, as Adelphi finished with 79 points and eight first-place votes. Le Moyne was close behind with 75 points and three first-place tallies, while Pace managed 72 points and the remaining three first-place nods. Southern Connecticut was fourth with 55 points.

The Penman are coming off a season where they reached the NCAA East Super Regional, before falling to NYIT. SNHU finished the season with a 40-15 record, including 22-6 in NE10 play, under head coach Scott Loiseau – and with his guidance, the team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the past eight seasons.

Adelphi reached as high as No. 6 in the NCBWA national rankings last season, when it went 34-9-1 – good for a win percentage of .784. The Panthers did not lose a game in the entire month of April, going 18-0-1 in 19 contests. Outfielder Lawrence Cicileo returns as the team's leading hitter, after posting a .342 batting average last season.

The 2020 NE10 baseball season begins on Thursday, Feb. 13, as Bentley travels to Winter Park, Fla., to take on Rollins in a three-game set. SNHU starts on Friday, Feb. 14, by traveling to play Colorado Mesa, while Assumption opens on Saturday, Feb. 15, in Cary, N.C.

The NE10 Baseball Championship is scheduled to begin with first round games on Tuesday, May 5, with championship weekend set for Thursday, May 7 through Saturday, May 9 – which will be hosted by the highest remaining seed from the Northeast Division.
