NE10 Baseball Teams of the Week: AIC, Assumption

AIC, Assumption

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 baseball programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

Coach Nick Callini on his senior class - "This group of seniors has showcased the type of leadership all coaches hope to develop in their players. They are as influential in the building of the AIC baseball culture as any class before them.  On the field, in the classroom and in the community, these seniors have represented AIC and their families at a championship level.  I am so very proud to have coached this group, and welcome them back to finish what we didn't get the opportunity to do this year…..win a championship!"

Season Recap
The Yellow Jackets were 4-6 in their first 10 games of the 2020 season, while winning three of four games prior to the spring sport cancellation. Nine of their 10 games were played in Florida, where they grabbed a win over NE10 opponent Stonehill on March 6. Matt Costanza was hitting a team-best .385 at the plate this year, while Matt Krause (.313) and Shawn Boston (.300) were two other .300 hitters for AIC under 17-year head coach Nick Callini.

ASSUMPTION

Coach Mike Rocco on his senior class – "I am so unbelievably proud of and heartbroken for this group. These young men have been phenomenal leaders in the Assumption community and I will always be grateful for their contributions to the program. They have gone above and beyond in every aspect of the title "student-athlete". They have helped to set a new standard for what it means to be a member of the Assumption baseball program, and that is what I will probably remember most about them."
