Conference Office Announces All-Conference selections, Major Award Winners 

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Saint Anselm's Chris Santo was named the 2014-15 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches.

The league's six student-athletes named First Team included three juniors and three seniors, as well as two repeat honorees.  New Haven's Eric Anderson and Southern Connecticut's Tylon Smith both earned First Team laurels for the second straight season.

American International's Bobby Harris, Merrimack's Gelvis Solano, Saint Anselm's Santo, and Southern New Hampshire's Rodney Sanders round out the rest of the First Team selections.

Santo had a remarkable year for the Hawks, posting numbers that put him among the league leaders in a number of statistical categories. The senior helped lead Saint Anselm to a 17-8 record overall, including 14-7 in NE-10 play.  He is currently averaging 20.9 points per game, second-best in the league and his 63.3 field goal percentage leads the conference.

The four-time NE-10 Player of the Week, Santo is currently averaging 7.9 rebounds per game, which ranks sixth-best, and has scored in double figures in 24 of the team's 25 games this season.  In 13 of those 25, he scored at least 20 points.  Santo was also named a First Team All-Conference selection.

Saint Rose's Jack Jones was selected as the 2014-2015 Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year by the league's coaches. Jones has appeared in all 27 of the Golden Knights' games so far this season, averaging 10.7 points and 4.1 rebounds.  His scoring average is currently second-best on the team.

The native of Sydney, Australia has played his best basketball as of late, averaging 16 points per game over his last six games.  He was also unanimously selected as a member of the NE-10 All-Rookie team.

Eric Anderson from New Haven was awarded the league's Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight season. The senior spearheaded a Chargers' defense that led the league in points allowed per game (62.1) and was among the best in terms of rebounding margin.

Anderson's 13.3 rebounds per game leads the nation, regardless of Division.  He is also averaging 1.5 blocked shots per outing, fourth-best in the league.  Anderson was also honored as a First Team selection for the second consecutive season.

Southern New Hampshire's legendary head coach Stan Spirou was recognized by his peers as the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year.  It marks the first time in his career the all-time Division II New England wins leader has been recognized with this award.

In his 30th year at the helm of the Penmen, Spirou helped lead the team to their first-ever NE-10 Regular Season title as they won the Northeast Division with a record of 17-4 in league play, and 20-6 overall.  Two of Spirou's student-athletes were recognized as Rodney Sanders was a First Team selection and Elijah Bonsignore was named Second Team.
