Nine Northeast-10 Teams Earn Spots in NCAA Men's and Women's East Regionals

NE-10 Champs American Int'l & Adelphi to host East Regionals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Nine teams from the Northeast-10 Conference received bids for the NCAA Division II men's and women's basketball tournaments on Sunday evening. Both American International, the NE-10 men's basketball champions, and Adelphi, the women's basketball champions, will host the NCAA East Regionals as the top seeds.

The women's regional games will begin on Friday, March 13, while the men's first round games are set to begin on Saturday.

Five NE-10 teams made the field of 64 on the men's side, including the top three seeds in the region. In addition to top-seeded American Int'l, Southern New Hampshire will be the No. 2 seed and Saint Anselm will be No. 3. Southern Connecticut drew the No. 5 seed and Stonehill earned the No. 7 seed.

So. New Hampshire and Stonehill will face off against each other in the opening round on Saturday. American Int'l draws No. 8 seed Philadelphia University from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Saint Anselm will also face a CACC squad in No. 6 seed USciences, while So. Connecticut will take on No. 4 seed Bridgeport from the East Coast Conference (ECC).

Four squads from the NE-10 made it into the women's field. After winning the conference championship game in convincing fashion earlier in the day, No. 1 seed Adelphi earned a battle with 8th-seeded Holy Family (CACC) on Friday. New Haven earned the No. 2 seed in the East Region and will take on No. 7 seed Philadelphia University (CACC).

Stonehill, the fourth seed, will match up with fifth-seeded Queens (N.Y.) of the ECC. Franklin Pierce earned the No. 6 seed and will face University of the District of Columbia, the third seed, in the first round.
