Bentley Hires Brian Bain as Men's Golf Head Coach

WALTHAM, Mass.Brian Bain, a longtime Player Engagement Consultant for the PGA of America, has been named the head golf coach at Bentley University, Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams announced.

Bain takes over a Bentley program that has competed in the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Super Regional annually since 2011 (except for the 2020 pandemic season) and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in 2019.

"I'm excited to welcome Brian to our team," said Williams. "He's been very successful in player development and that skill will certainly benefit our program."

"I am really looking forward to building upon the momentum that the golf program has sustained over the last decade and excited where the team is going to go in the future," commented Bain.

In his role as a Player Engagement Consultant, Bain served the Central New York, Connection, Northeastern New York and New England Sections in the PGA's dedication to growing the game. He is responsible for helping the golf industry drive, promote, and develop innovative initiatives that reach out to golfers in diverse markets nationwide, which is a key component of the PGA's outreach to women, minorities, and junior golfers, underscoring that golf is a game for everyone.

In addition, Bain provides support to allied associations throughout the golf industry and delivers education to facilities and businesses in support of programs and events, to promote the game to new audiences.

Before taking on that position in 2012, Bain was the head golf professional at the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course in Brookline from 2002-11 and at Louisquisset Golf Club in North Providence, R.I. from 2001-02. He also spent nearly a decade as the assistant golf professional at the Agawam Hunt in Rumford, R.I.

Bain was the President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the New England PGA from 2009-10, President of the Southern Massachusetts Chapter of the New England PGA in 2006 and has served on the National PGA Junior Golf Committee (2009-12, 2020-present).

A recognized expert in player development, Bain received the national 2011 PGA President's Plaque (now called the PGA Player Development Award), for extraordinary and exemplary contributions in growing the game.  He has also received the New England PGA Section President's Plaque three times and was the 2008 New England PGA Junior Golf Leader. He was named a U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Teacher in America annually from 2004-07 and was named a U.S. Kids Golf Master Kids Teacher in 2008.

A 1997 graduate of Bryant University, Bain holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
