10 League Teams Honored by AVCA.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Earlier this week, the Northeast-10 Conference had 10 programs recognized with the United States Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2019 season due to outstanding performances in the classroom.
Across all divisions, 1,313 teams were honored by the AVCA – topping last year's record by almost 200 programs. The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
Adelphi, Assumption, Bentley, Franklin Pierce, New Haven, Pace, Saint Rose, Southern Connecticut, Southern New Hampshire and Stonehill all received the award for academic excellence throughout the 2019-20 school year.
Pace qualified for the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll by securing one of the top 36 GPAs in all of NCAA Division II. The NE10 had nine programs honored following the 2018-19 school year.
Additionally, Adelphi and Stonehill both reached their Dig Pink fundraising goals through the Side-Out Foundation. Dig Pink is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community.
