Saint Rose’s Megan Mayer Wins NE10 Elite 24 Award in Volleyball

Megan Mayer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

First Golden Knights' Volleyball Player to Earn Elite 24.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Despite no formal season of competition for fall or winter sports in the Northeast-10 Conference, the league will continue to recognize its top scholar student-athletes by way of the Elite 24 Award. Saint Rose's Megan Mayer has earned the Elite 24 honor in the sport of volleyball, following her outstanding performance in the classroom.

The Elite 24 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site at each NE10 Championship. No fall or winter championships were played in 2020-21, but the Elite 24 winners have been determined by comparing the GPA of all NE10 student-athletes on a sport-by-sport basis.

Mayer, a junior defensive specialist, becomes the first Saint Rose volleyball player to earn the Elite 24. She has posted an impressive 3.985 GPA as a marketing major. Mayer was voted a co-captain for the Golden Knights at the start of the current school year and is a member of the Saint Rose Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She has played in 52 matches during her collegiate career, recording 143 digs and 32 service aces. For five-straight semesters, Mayer has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll.

The league office continues to recognize Elite 24 Award winners for fall sports this week. Winter winners will be released next week (March 23-26).
