Four Northeast-10 Schools Selected to Six-Team NCAA Baseball East Regional

Southern New Hampshire to host regional
in Manchester, N.H. for second straight year

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University will host the 2013 NCAA Division II Baseball East Regional Championship, it was announced Sunday night in an online selection show.

So. New Hampshire (33-17) received the No. 4 seed and was one of four Northeast-10 Conference programs selected to compete for the regional title.

The University of New Haven (33-14) received the No. 3 seed, as the Chargers earned an automatic qualifier by virtue of winning the 2013 Northeast-10 Championship on Saturday.

Pace University (32-15) earned an at-large berth and will serve as the No. 5 seed, while Franklin Pierce University (32-16) also earned at at-large spot as the No. 6 seed.

The six-team, double-elimination East Regional will get underway Thursday at Penmen Field in Manchester, N.H. The winner will advance to the 2013 Division II College World Series in Cary, N.C.

Wilmington (Del.), the 2013 Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champion, received the top seed in the regional, while Saint Thomas Aquinas, the 2013 East Coast Conference (ECC) champion, will appear as the No. 2 seed in Manchester.

So. New Hampshire, which advanced out of the regional to participate in the CWS a year ago, will take on New Haven Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.

In other matchups on Thursday, Franklin Pierce will play Wilmington (Del.). at 11:00 a.m. and Pace draws second-seeded Saint Thomas Aquinas at 3:00 p.m.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
