MANCHESTER, N.H. - The second day of the 2013 NCAA Baseball East Regional came to its completion Friday night on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.
Third-seeded University of New Haven staved off elimination by downing sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University, 3-1, on Friday at Penmen Field. So. New Hampshire later defeated fifth-seeded Pace University, 3-2, in the third and final game of the day.
St. Thomas Aquinas was eliminated from regional play in the first of three contests on Friday, falling to Wilmington (Del.), 8-1.
Franklin Pierce will now take on Pace in an elimination game Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., with So. New Hampshire playing the winner of that contest at 7:00 p.m.
In between, New Haven will take on Wilmington (Del.) at 3:00 p.m. in an elimination game.

New Haven improved to 34-15 with its first NCAA postseason win since downing UMass Lowell on day one of the 2003 NCAA Northeast Region Championship.
Pat Simone worked the first seven innings for the Chargers, ceding just one run while scattering seven hits to improve to 7-2. The First Team All-Northeast-10 southpaw struck out eight batters and did not issue a walk. Peter Jay got the last six outs in perfect fashion to record his 14th save of the season.
Kyle Cullen led the offense with two RBI hits – his sixth home run of the spring as well as a run -scoring single. Chris DeMorais also roped an RBI single, while Brendan O'Reilly went 1-for-3 with two runs scored. O'Reilly and Cullen each stole a base as well.
Franklin Pierce plated its only run in the sixth on a Zach Mathieu RBI double. Ravens starting pitcher Steve Hathaway allowed three runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts over 5.2 innings of work.

Three runs in the third inning proved to be the difference as three wild pitches to one batter in the frame turned out to be Pace's undoing. So. New Hampshire loaded the bases in the third, and with Riley Palmer up, Pace hurler Mike Tamburino uncorked three wild pitches, allowing all three Penmen runners to score.
Pace grabbed a run in the bottom of the first as a two-out double by Brandon Martineson brought home Chris Gili, who led off the game getting hit by a pitch. The other Setter run came in the third as a Robert Horn single plated Martineson with two out.
Penmen starter Jon Massad upped his record to 6-3 as he battled for seven innings, scattering seven hits while notching seven strikeouts against a pair of walks. Closer Alex Powers recorded his eighth save with his two innings of relief, recording a pair of strikeouts. Tamburino went the distance for Pace, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six.
The Penmen, who became the lone unbeaten team in the double-elimination tournament with the win, improve to 35-17, while the Setters are now 33-16 overall.
