South Easton, Mass. – Five Northeast-10 Conference schools appeared in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top-25 rankings according to the most recent polls, which were released on Tuesday.
On the men’s side, Franklin Pierce University (11-0-1, 7-0-1 NE-10) came in at sixth a week removed from appearing at No. 2 in the nation. The Ravens played to a 1-1 double overtime tie at home against the University of New Haven this past Saturday, and are also ranked second in the East Region behind C.W. Post.
Southern New Hampshire University (10-2-0, 7-2-0 NE-10) also moved back into the national rankings, appearing at No. 16 this week. The Penmen had been ranked as high as fourth in the nation earlier this season, but have not cracked the national poll the last three weeks. So. New Hampshire is ranked third in the East, and is currently in the midst of a seven-game winning streak with five consecutive shutouts.
Bentley University (7-4-1, 5-3-0 NE-10), the University of Massachusetts Lowell (7-4, 7-2 NE-10), and Le Moyne College (7-4-1, 6-2-0 NE-10) also appear at Nos. 8, 9 and 10 in this week’s East rankings.
In the women’s rankings, The College of Saint Rose (11-0-1, 8-0-1 NE-10) moved up one spot to No. 8 in the nation. The Golden Knights have won eight in a row since a 1-1 tie against UMass Lowell on September 9, and are also ranked second in the East Regional rankings behind Bridgeport.
Merrimack College (9-1, 6-1 NE-10), meanwhile, fell one spot to No. 18 this week after falling 3-0 to Franklin Pierce last Wednesday. Southern Connecticut State University (10-1-1, 8-1-1 NE-10) also appeared this week, at No. 25, after being unranked the last two weeks. The Warriors and Owls are also ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the East Region.
UMass Lowell (7-2-2, 6-1-2 NE-10) also appears fifth in the East, while Stonehill College (7-4-2, 5-3-2 NE-10) is seventh, So. New Hampshire (6-5-1, 4-4-1 NE-10) eighth and New Haven (6-5, 4-5 NE-10) ninth.
The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 5,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country.
