Top Seeded Franklin Pierce and Saint Rose Advance into Seminfinals in Northeast-10 Soccer Action

South Easton, Mass. - The top-seeded Franklin Pierce men's soccer team and the top-seeded Saint Rose women's soccer team both advanced to the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 men's and women's soccer championship, respectively, with matching 4-0 wins on Tuesday evening.

Men's Soccer Northeast-10 Championship - Quarterfinals

#1 Franklin Pierce 4, #8 Stonehill 0

The No. 2 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team opened post-season play on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win over eighth-seeded Stonehill at Larkin Field in Manchester, N.H. The Ravens improved to 17-0-1, while Stonehill concluded its season at 10-9.

#2 So. New Hampshire 2, #7 Bentley 1

A goal by Chris Tsonis with just under 22 minutes to play lifted second-seeded So. New Hampshire to a 2-1 win over No. 7 seed Bentley in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Championship Tuesday afternoon at Larkin Field.  The Penmen, who will host third-seeded UMass Lowell on Friday at a time to be determined, won their 13th match in a row and improved to 16-2, while the Falcons, who now will await berth of a possible NCAA berth, are 9-7-2.

#3 UMass Lowell 1, #6 So. Connecticut 0

Sophomore midfielder Daniel Galvin scored the lone goal in the 57th minute to lead No. 3 UMass Lowell over No. 6 So. Connecticut, 1-0, Tuesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal at Larkin Field.

#4 Le Moyne 3, #5 Merrimack 2

Sophomore midfielder Zachary MacNabb scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute after assisting on the game-tying goal in the 52nd minute to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Merrimack in the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Tuesday afternoon at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Women's Soccer Northeast-10 Championship - Quarterfinals

#1 Saint Rose 4, #8 Adelphi 0

The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team took its first step towards a fifth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference title with a 4-0 victory against eighth-seed Adelphi  this afternoon at Sullivan Field. The Golden Knights received goals from four different players while chalking up their 12th shutout of the year.

#2 Merrimack 2, #7 Pace 0

Behind two second half goals, the #14 Merrimack women's soccer team prevailed 2-0 over Pace in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament at Martone-Mejail Field Tuesday evening. The second-seeded Warriors improve to 15-2-1 on the season with their fifth-consecutive shutout. The seventh-seeded Setters fell to 8-9-1 on the year with the loss.

#6 So. New Hampshire 2, #3 UMass Lowell 1

Ariel Teixeira scored the game-winning goal with 2:53 remaining in the first half to lead the sixth-seeded So. New Hampshire Penmen to a 2-1 win over No. 3 UMass Lowell in Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinal action. With the win, the Penmen improve to 10-7-2 and advance to the NE-10 semifinal round on Friday.

#5 Stonehill 3, #4 So. Connecticut 2

The fifth-seeded Stonehill College women's soccer team earned a 3-2 victory over fourth-seeded So. Connecticut in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Quarterfinal round action on Tuesday at Jess Dow Field.

Senior goalkeeper/forward Sarah Hickey led the Skyhawks offensively scoring the first goal of the contest and assisting on another. Junior back Sara Nagle and sophomore midfielder Catherine Kelly also added markers.
