SNHU with League-High Four Athletes Earning Four Selections on NE10 First Team.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire freshman Jonathan Berling has earned both Vern Cox Men's Tennis Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, as the Northeast-10 Conference announced its all-conference awards on Thursday afternoon.

Berling becomes the first NE10 player since Adelphi's Matteo Cannavera in 2014-15 to win both Vern Cox Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same season. The freshman helped lead Southern New Hampshire to tallying a league-best eight selections overall to the all-conference teams – as well as tie Bentley with a league-high six athletes honored.

Bentley followed SNHU with six athletes earning five All-Conference positions, while Adelphi had five athletes earn four All-Conference spots. Le Moyne, the No. 1 seed in the NE10 Men's Tennis Championship, had three players earn three selections.

Berling had a remarkable freshman season, going 6-0 at No. 1 singles to earn Vern Cox Men's Tennis Player of the Year honors, in addition to Rookie of the Year. Overall in conference play, Berling went a combined 12-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles (6-0 at each) to earn First Team selections at both flights. He went undefeated this season at No. 1 doubles with partner Thomas Guy. A native of Moss, Norway, Berling helped SNHU (9-1, 6-1 NE10) earn a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed in the NE10 Men's Tennis Championship.

For the second-straight season, Le Moyne's Jeff Lonczak was named NE10 Men's Tennis Coach of the Year, as he led the Dolphins to a perfect 7-0 record in conference play and the regular season title. Le Moyne has won 19-straight matches in the 2021-22 season – including conference play – and is ranked No. 1 in the latest NCAA East Region rankings. The Dolphins are the top seed in the NE10 Championship.

Two players earned multiple honors on the All-Conference First Team, including Berling and Le Moyne's Manuel Righi (No. 2 singles, No. 2 doubles). There were eight players who earned recognition at both singles and doubles on the All-Conference teams.

The NE10 Men's Tennis Championship continues on Thursday with the semifinals, as Le Moyne hosts Franklin Pierce and SNHU welcomes Adelphi. For the full schedule and all other championship information, click HERE.

The NE10 Player of the Year award is named in honor of former longtime Springfield College head coach Vern Cox. All-Conference selections are based on record at a given flight and a minimum number of matches that must be played in order to be eligible.
