NE-10 Leads All Conferences with 202 USTFCCCA Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Honors

Southern Connecticut Leads the Pack with 49 Accolades

USTFCCCA All-Region Honorees | Major Award Winners

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Northeast-10 led all NCAA Division II conferences with 202 All-Region honors for the 2015 outdoor track & field season, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The NE-10 had the most men’s and women’s accolades with 101 each. For a full list of the student athletes who were honored, please see the links above.

Southern Connecticut led all women’s teams with 26 total honors, as well as the second-most men’s honors with 23 for a total of 49 accolades. Leading the way for the Owls was Jimm Guerrier and Crystle Hill, who both earned All-Region plaudits in five events apiece.

The conference also swept all East Region major individual awards.

American International’s Michael Biwott and Merrimack’s Carly Muscaro were tabbed the region’s Track Athletes of the Year. Biwott won both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs at the NE-10 Championships, while Muscaro ran the fastest 400-meter dash of all Division II women’s runners this season at the NEICAAA Championships.

Southern Connecticut’s Michael Cameron and New Haven’s Briana Conyers collected Field Athlete of the Year accolades for the region. Cameron claimed the title in both the shot put and discus at the NE-10 Championships, and Conyers was the triple jump winner at both the NE-10 and New England Championships. 

The Owls also swept all four Coach of the Year awards for the region after their men’s and women’s teams won the conference title. John Wallin was named East Region Men’s Coach of the Year, while Melissa Stoll was dubbed Women’s Coach of the Year. William “Bill” Sutherland and Joe Van Gilder claimed Assistant Coach of the Year accolades as well.

Twenty-three student athletes will represent the NE-10 at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which run from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23.
