SNHU Holds Off Adelphi; Named Favorite in NE10 Women's Tennis Coaches' Poll

Women's Tennis Coaches' Poll 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Penmen, Reigning NE10 Champion, Picked First.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire, the reigning champion of the Northeast-10 Conference, narrowly edged Adelphi and was named the preseason favorite in the Women's Tennis Coaches' Poll - as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

By the smallest of margins, SNHU earned the top spot in the Coaches' Poll, finishing with 58 points and five first-place votes, while Adelphi collected 57 points and the other four first-place votes from NE10 head coaches. Franklin Pierce, the NE10 finalist from a year ago, placed third with 51 points.

The Penmen were undefeated in conference play (9-0) in the 2022 fall season, earning the top seed in the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship. SNHU captured the regular season title for the first time since 2019-20 and went on to win its fourth league title in program history under head coach Greg Coache

Adelphi was 6-3 in conference play last season and earned the No. 5 seed in the NE10 Championship, where it lost to top-seeded SNHU in the semifinal round. Franklin Pierce was 8-1 in league play and advanced to the NE10 Championship final, where it narrowly lost a 4-3 match to SNHU.

New Haven (46 points), Assumption (30 points) and Bentley (30 points) came next in the poll in the four and five spots, which would make them eligible for the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship at the end of the regular season.
