NE10 Player of the Week

Alina Kupfer, Southern New Hampshire
Sophomore | Baldham, Germany

Kupfer went 6-0, including 4-0 in singles play, during a 2-0 week for the Penmen that clinched them a share of the regular season title. Kupfer was a 6-3, 6-3 winner versus Irene Garbo at No. 1 singles in Tuesday's 7-0 win over Saint Anselm and also edged Aynara Ferraz, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles in another 7-0 blanking of Franklin Pierce on Saturday. Kupfer also teamed with Verena Weindl for a a pair of No. 1 doubles victories. They posted a 6-1 win over Garbo and Camila Heredia-Osante (Saint Anselm) and a 6-4 triumph versus Ferraz and Maria Paz Diaz (Franklin Pierce). Kupfer also went 2-0 at the ITA Cup to become the first Penmen ever to reach the semifinal round. Kupfer defeated Cristiana Miruna Tudo (Azusa Pacific), 6-4, 6-7 (5-7) 6-4, in the round of 16 Thursday and then took down Tyffaine Pais (Indianapolis), 6-2, 0-6, 7-5, in the quarterfinals Friday. She withdrew after the quarterfinal win because of her commitment to the team and its regular-season final Saturday.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Caroline Mäder, Assumption
Freshman | Großwallstadt, Germany

Mäder improved to 13-2 in singles action this year while 10-5 in doubles action following an undefeated week for the freshman. At Franklin Pierce, she won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles before winning No. 2 doubles 6-1 with Caitlyn Sze. On Friday against Saint Michael's, she won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and 6-0 at top-flight doubles to secure the fourth seed for the Greyhounds in the NE10 Tournament.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Karim Carreras, New Haven (Jr. - Asuncion, Paraguay)
Carreras finished a two-match week 3-1 overall record, going a perfect 2-0 in singles play and finishing 1-1 partnered with Valentinna Ferrarini at No. 1 singles. Among her three wins, two came in NE10 play as she swept her doubles and singles matches against against American International. She opened up the week earning the lone point of the day in a 6-1 decision against Queens, taking a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 decision at the No. 2 position. She then swept her two matches against AIC on Sunday with a 6-0 decision in double action and a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.

Irene Garbo (So. - Assemini, Sardinia, Italy)
Garbo picked up her ninth win in singles action on Monday against Adelphi University after beating her opponent 6-3, 7-5. She concluded the regular season with the best team record in singles, 9-3, and doubles 7-4, for Saint Anselm.

Dajana Abadzic, Southern New Hampshire (Fr. - Weinstadt, Germany)
Abadzic went 4-0, including 2-0 at No. 3 singles, during a 2-0 week for the Penmen that earned them a share of the regular season crown. Abadzic blanked Olivia Parzick, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles in Tuesday's 7-0 shutout of Saint Anselm and then was a 6-3, 6-3 winner against Paz Diaz at No. 3 singles in a 7-0 sweep of Franklin Pierce on Saturday. She also combined with Eleonora Guglielmetti for a pair of No. 2 doubles wins, including a 6-4 victory against Julie Borschig and Parzick (Saint Anselm) and a 6-1 triumph versus Zoe Asterio Correa and Dylan Smith (Franklin Pierce).
