NE10 Player of the Week

Alina Kupfer, Southern New Hampshire
Sophomore | Baldham, Germany

Kupfer went 5-1, including a perfect 3-0 at No. 1 singles, during a 3-0 week for the Penmen. Kupfer defeated New Haven's Valentinna Ferrarini, 6-1, 6-4, in a 4-3 win Tuesday, made quick work of Bentley's Maria Mella, 6-0, 6-2, Thursday and capped the week with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Post's Annunciata De-Souza. Kupfer teamed with Verena Weindl for a 6-3 win against Adriana Hiraldo and Mello (Bentley) at No. 1 doubles, and also blanked Megan Lombardt and De-Souza (Post), 6-0, at No. 1 doubles.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Caroline Mäder, Assumption
Freshman | Großwallstadt, Germany

Mäder went 4-0 on the week, as she won both the No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles match as Assumption improved to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in NE10 action. At Stonehill, she rallied to comeback in singles 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 after winning doubles 6-1 with Jill Schoeneich. On Sunday against Saint Anselm, She dropped just one point on the day with a 6-0 win at doubles before winning 6-0, 6-1 in singles action.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Natalija Vlacic, American International (Jr. - Belgrade, Serbia)
Vlacic was a dominant force for the Yellow Jackets in a sweep of Saint Michael's. She was part of AIC's victorious first doubles pair that won 6-2, and then won first singles 6-3, 6-0.

Risako Umekuni, New Haven (Jr. - Saitama, Japan)
Umekuni finished the week with a trio of victories, including taking third singles wins against Southern New Hampshire and Adelphi. She opened up the week with a pair of victories against the Penmen as she was part of a point clinching doubles win with partner Lucia Placidi at No. 2 doubles. She then cruised her way to a singles win at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 decision. Umekuni then wrapped up the week with a third singles victory against the Panthers, taking a 6-4, 6-0 decision. For the season, Umekuni is currently unbeaten at No. 3 singles with a 5-0 record, all in Northeast-10 play.

Irene Garbo, Saint Anselm (So. - Assemini, Sardinia, Italy)
Garbo earned her sixth win in the No.1 singles spot for the Hawks against Bentley, improving to a 6-2 record. She also secured two more doubles victories this week versus the Falcons and Greyhounds to secure her sixth doubles win this season.

Nadya Lyekontseva, Southern New Hampshire (Fr. - Kiyv, Ukraine)
Lyekontseva went 3-0 at No. 4 singles during a 3-0 week for the Penmen. Lyekontseva outlasted New Haven's Alyssa Rodriguez, 6-7 (6-10), 7-6 (10-4), 6-2, Tuesday, breezed past Bentley's Anna Lang, 6-1, 6-0, Thursday, and took down Post's Megan Lombardt, 6-3, 7-5, Sunday.
