Adelphi Claims Top Seed in NE10 Women's Tennis Championship

Adelphi, SNHU and New Haven Earn Share of NE10 Regular Season Title.


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Adelphi, Southern New Hampshire and New Haven all claimed a share of the Northeast-10 Conference regular season title on Sunday, as the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship is slated to begin on Wednesday with first round play. Due to tiebreak procedures, Adelphi earned the top seed in the Championship. 

All three teams went 7-1 in NE10 play, losing only to each other throughout regular season play. Adelphi claimed the top spot in the Championship, while reigning NE10 champion SNHU is second and New Haven is third. The trio is joined by No. 4-seed Assumption, No. 5-seed Saint Anselm and No. 6-seed Franklin Pierce. 

Adelphi seeks its first NE10 title since the 2017-18 season - which was the final victory of three consecutive league championships for the Panthers (2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18). SNHU will attempt to defend its NE10 title, which was the fourth in program history. 

For seedings and matchups in the 2023 NE10 Women's Tennis Championship, please see the full schedule below for dates and times. The NE10 Championship first round will be hosted by both New Haven and Assumption. 

The two top seeds - Adelphi and SNHU - will receive byes in the first round and prepare to host semifinal matches on Friday, October 20. The Panthers will play the winner of the 4-5 matchup between Assumption and Saint Anselm, while the Penmen will host the winner of the 3-6 matchup between New Haven and Franklin Pierce. 

The NE10 Championship final is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, at the highest remaining seed's home courts. Match times are always subject to change due to inclement weather and indoor court availability.

* Adelphi, SNHU & New Haven were all 1-1 within their mini-conference. When match score wins/losses were compared within the mini-conference, Adelphi had eight wins, SNHU had six wins and New Haven had seven wins. Adelphi earned the #1 seed. SNHU earned the #2 seed based on their regular season win vs. New Haven.

** Saint Anselm, Franklin Pierce & Bentley were all 1-1 within their mini-conference. When match score wins/losses were compared within the mini-conference, all teams finished with seven wins and seven losses. When compared to playoff teams occupying the highest positions in the standings, continuing down, all three lost to Adelphi, SNHU, New Haven & Assumption. When match score wins were compared vs. playoff teams, both Saint Anselm & Franklin Pierce lost 6-1 vs. Adelphi. Bentley lost 7-0. With Bentley pulled out of the mini-conference, Saint Anselm earned the #5 seed based on their regular season win vs. Franklin Pierce. Franklin Pierce earned the #6 seed based on their regular season win vs. Bentley.

Match #1: #6 Franklin Pierce at #3 New Haven (3:00 PM; indoor back-up plans TBA).
Match #2: #5 Saint Anselm at #4 Assumption (2:30 PM; indoor back-up plans TBA). 

Friday, October 20th     
Semifinals
Match #3: Match #1 winner at #2 Southern New Hampshire.
Match #4: Match #2 winner at #1 Adelphi.

Sunday, October 22nd     
Championship ­ (to be held at highest remaining seed)
Game 5: Game 3 winner vs Game 4 winner

Should matches be moved inside due to inclement weather, times may change.
