New Haven Earns Top Seed for Upcoming Northeast-10 Volleyball Championship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 11, 2012

South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven finished the Northeast-10 Conference portion of their schedule undefeated for the fifth consecutive year, earning the Chargers the top seed in the upcoming Volleyball Championship.

The NE-10 Volleyball Championship begins Tuesday, November 13th with four first round matchups, and the conference champion will be crowned Saturday evening during the championship round. The top remaining seed following Tuesday's quarterfinal results will host the semifinal and final round.

The Northeast-10 Conference will be broadcasting the volleyball championship final live at northeast10.org and northeast10.tv on Saturday, November 17th. The Conference will also be providing live updates of all conference championship games on their Twitter feed (@TheNortheast10).

Remarkably, since joining the conference New Haven has never lost a regular season conference game. This year, the Chargers, 24-1 overall and currently the top seed in the East Region rankings, needed just 51 sets to go a perfect 15-0 in conference play.

Led by reigning NE-10 Player of the Year Keidy Candelaria, pictured, and a strong offensive and defensive attack, New Haven will host the Volleyball Championship for as long as they're still competing.

Adelphi University (13-2) finished second in the Northeast-10 Conference standings, while Franklin Pierce University (12-3) finished third. For a complete list of the seeds, as well as the teams competing in the 2012 Volleyball Championship and the times of the games, please see below.
