Greyhounds Win Second NE10 Title in Program History

WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption University scored three times in the final period to clinch the program's second Northeast-10 Ice Hockey Championship with a 4-3 victory over Post University on Saturday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

The No. 3 seed Greyhounds finished with a 41-35 shot advantage in the contest as Most Outstanding Player Devan Sheth scored twice, including the eventual game-winning goal in the third period to lift the team to victory. David Altman made 32 saves to secure the win in net while his counterpart Brandon Brown finished with 37 saves overall for the No. 4 seeded Eagles.

Neither team could break through in the first period, but in the second Post took a 1-0 advantage at 4:52. Sheth evened it up five minutes later, but Assumption gave up a powerplay goal at 16:17 to trail 2-1 after 40 minutes of action.

Dante Maribito scored just 2:15 into the period to knot up the score and then Williams Smith gave the Greyhounds a 3-2 lead three minutes later. Sheth made it 4-2 at 11:57, but Post refused to go away and pulled within one with eight seconds left. However, the Eagles couldn't net the equalizer before time ran out.
