NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's soccer team officially announced a late addition to its roster Saturday night, as Team IMPACT partner Brady, who had been with the team for nearly two months since June, signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Warriors as an official teammate.
With every member of the team plus Brady's friends and family on hand to witness, head coach Tony Martone (pictured, right) introduced Brady, his accomplishments since joining the team and announced the program's intent to sign their youngest new player to the team as part of a special Draft Day ceremony on Saturday night at Cascia Hall on campus.
After having a chance to review his NLI, Brady put ink to paper and officially became the men's soccer team's newest member; the signing was greeted by a round of applause and a roar of approval from all attendees present.
"Today will go down as one of the proudest moments in not only my coaching tenure, but the history of this great program," Martone said during the press conference. Today is a day that we celebrate Brady, Thanks to our great friends at Team IMPACT, we were able to unite with Brady in June, and throughout our time together he has shown us how strong he is and that has inspired us as a team."
Brady, who was diagnosed with CHARGE Syndrome at a young age, was matched by Team IMPACT with the men's soccer program after it was determined that he could benefit from the relationship he would have with the team. Two months into that journey, Brady's match with the Warriors truly has inspired both sides; the youngest Warrior has participated in practices, team activities, attended scrimmages, and much more over that span.
