New Haven - SNHU - Teams of the Week

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 softball programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

New Haven

Head Coach Jen Starek on her senior class – "This is a great group of seniors that made a huge impact on the team from day one. They stood out in everything they have done and I know they will continue to do that in everything they do." 

Seniors

Season Recap
The Chargers went 3-3 in 2020, facing a tough group of non-conference opponents, including No. 4 West Florida. They did conclude the season with a 6-5 victory over Southern Connecticut in extra innings. Senior Catherine Vaughn was tied for the team lead in runs scored with three. This senior class helped New Haven reach two NCAA Tournaments and win 30 or more games twice.


Southern New Hampshire 

Head Coach Deb Robitaille on her senior class – "It's hard to describe what this senior class meant to this program. Their dedication, hard work and leadership to the SNHU Softball Program will be forever ingrained in the culture. There are so many memories that will never be forgotten, to say they will be missed would be an understatement. They are amazing individuals and have a very bright future! Jordan, Maddy, Gab, Logan, ET and Mel  - Thank you for everything!!" 

Seniors

Season Recap
The Penmen opened the year ranked 23rd in the nation and won three of their first four games this season. They finished the year with a 5-5 record overall, but took down Le Moyne in a sweep by outscoring the Dolphins 19-7. Senior Maddy Barone was 4-2 on the year with a 1.89 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 37 IP. Overall the senior class reached the NCAA Tournament in the past two seasons, winning a school-record 38 games each year.

The NE10 is an association of 14 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete. 

Each year, 4,500 student-athletes compete in conference championships, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the NE10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
