NE10 Softball Teams of the Week: Assumption, Saint Rose

NE10 Softball Teams of the Week: Assumption, Saint Rose

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 softball programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

ASSUMPTION

Coach Jon Ladino on his senior class - “It has been a my pleasure to not only coach Shelby, Kayla, and Shannon but also to get to know them as individuals. Over the past three years, these three young women have embodied what it means to be an Assumption Greyhound with their consistent hard work and dedication both on and off the softball field. I know their futures are going to be bright in whatever their next endeavor is, and wherever they end up they are a proud representation of our softball program, our athletic department, and our institution”.

Season Recap
The Assumption softball team concluded its season with a doubleheader sweep, taking down Ferris State and Bloomfield by matching 6-3 scores. The Greyhounds finished with a 4-6 record overall, batting .268. Kayla Peabody was tied for second on the team with eight hits and led the team with eight RBI while Shelby Lindsay hit .308 in six games. This senior class reached the NE10 Tournament in each of their first three seasons while finishing over .500 overall and in conference play every year.

SAINT ROSE

Coach Abby Arceneaux on her senior class - “Shannon and Kylee both had stepped up into leadership roles this season on and off of the field to help guide our young team. They take pride in the things that are passionate about which is why Shannon and Kylee have excelled academically since coming to Saint Rose and were primed and ready to excel athletically this season. Our record through the first 12 games doesn’t reflect the true potential our 2020 team had but Kylee and Shannon were instrumental in keeping us in every one of those games. They are incredibly bright, hard-working young ladies that are going to do great things in the next field they choose to step into. Our program is grateful that they decided to transfer to Saint Rose after successful stints at two junior colleges and we all can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them! Go Golden Knights!”
