First-Ever Championship Meeting Between Adelphi and Assumption.
MANSFIELD, Mass. - No. 6-seeded Assumption continued its magical run on Friday in the Northeast-10 Conference Softball Championship semifinals, as the Greyhounds upset No. 2-seeded Bentley, 2-0, to advance to the NE10 final on Saturday against host and top-seeded Adelphi. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Janet L. Ficke Field, live on NE10NOW.tv.
In a pair of pitching duels on Friday, it was Adelphi that prevailed in Friday's early game with a 1-0 victory over No. 4-seeded Saint Anselm, followed by Assumption's second-straight upset victory in two days. Assumption advances to its first NE10 Softball Championship final since 2012, while Adelphi looks to repeat as league champions.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - When Adelphi needed Lindsey Hibbs the most, the NE10 Pitcher of the Year came through in the biggest way - earning a complete-game shutout victory to lead her top-seeded Panthers to a 1-0 victory over No. 4-seeded Saint Anselm in the NE10 Softball Championship semifinals on Friday.
Hibbs allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 10 in her dominant performance, but it did not come without struggle. Saint Anselm loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh inning, but Hibbs retired each of the next three batters in order to hold off the Hawks and help Adelphi advance to its sixth-straight NE10 Championship final.
Saint Anselm's Haile Hicks was also strong in the circle - allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. It was a solo home run by Adelphi's Courtney Wengryn in the fourth inning that proved to be the difference in the game.
Adelphi will host No. 6-seeded Assumption on Saturday in the NE10 Championship final. First pitch is at 12 p.m. in Garden City.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Assumption's remarkable postseason run continued on Friday with a 2-0 win over No. 2-seeded Bentley to help the program advance to its first NE10 Softball Championship final in 11 years. It was the pitching duo of Kaelin Waldron and Anna Tassone that combined for a shutout victory in the circle for the Greyhounds.
Both of Assumption's runs came in the fifth inning, with one run scored on a wild pitch and the other on an RBI single from Lauren Geremia. It was all the Greyhounds would need, as Waldron and Tassone allowed just a combined four hits and two walks. Payton Doiron started for Bentley in the circle - allowing two runs on four hits in five innings of work.
Assumption head coach Stacey Mayer leads the program to the Championship final in just her first season in Worcester.
