NE10 Women's Track & Field Teams of the Week: Le Moyne, St. Rose, Southern Conn.

Le Moyne

Coach Robin Wheeless on senior Mya Walters – "Mya is so much more than just an athlete; although she has been one of our top distance athletes for years.  She is a top student as well having held several positions with the student government here at Le Moyne including president of the student athlete advisory committee, as well as starting Le Moyne's Food Recovery Network chapter.  She has been a mentor and tutor to our younger athletes and an example for others to follow.  We are all better for having known her and we will miss her dearly."

Season Recap:
Le Moyne placed ninth at the 2020 NE10 Indoor Championships this year as Mya Walters finished among the top-ten in both the 3000m and 5000m races. In the fall, Walters was her team's top finisher in the NE10 Cross Country Championships, placing 32nd to help the team take ninth overall.

Saint Rose

Coach Ray Putnam on his senior class – "The College of Saint Rose has a small senior class on the women's side led by Shannen Kerin. Shannen was part of multiple school record-setting relay teams and holds top-five times in the mid-distance events. The biology major earned the prestigious NE10 Elite 24 Award at this February's Indoor Conference Championships and is looking to continue her education in the medical field. Our other senior is Amanda Melian. Amanda ran the steeplechase and will be graduating this spring as well. They have meant a great deal to our program and we know they'll go on to do great things."

Season Recap
At the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, Shannen Kerin was awarded the NE10 Elite 24 award for posting the highest GPA of any woman competing at the Championships while also competing in the 800 meters and earning a point for the team in the 4x400 relay.

Southern Connecticut

Coach Melissa Stoll on her senior class – "Throughout their tenure as Lady Owls, each of these seniors have imprinted their mark in our program's history with a unique story of their journey where their actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. Their leadership is demonstrative in the classroom, in sport, and in their relationships. This is a brilliant group, and I look forward to seeing their continued growth in leading and making statements in their respective paths."
