NE10 Women's Track & Field Teams of the Week: New Haven, Southern N.H.

NE10 Women's Track & Field Teams of the Week: New Haven, Southern N.H.

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 women's track & field programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

New Haven

Head coach Shaunnaya Williams on her senior class – “The loss that this class has experienced over the course of four years does not measure up to the success they've had in the classrooms, on the cross country courses or on the track. The legacy that they have all left on this department, on their team and in the community will never be forgotten.

As I reflect over the course of your time here - you've been challenged to set your goals high, give 110% each and every day, and to be industrious in all that you do. You have also been taught that athletics is a preparation for your future and what you learn from being on a team is a microcosm of life. The things we as coaches have taught you are about to make sense. You'll soon see what we meant! To our future doctors, lawyers, marine biologists and those pursuing post graduate degrees - you've left a huge footprint on our hearts and huge shoes to fill here at New Haven. You will truly be missed!”

Season Recap
The Chargers concluded their indoor season with a seventh place finish at the NE10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. Armstad won the 60 meter dash at the Championships, while Barton took sixth in the 3000m and Long was part of the 4x400 relay which took fifth.

Southern New Hampshire

Head coach Lex Butler on his senior class – ““Our senior class may be small but they are mighty. They can graduate with their heads held high for all they accomplished academically, athletically and as key pieces of the program’s growing successes over these past four years.  They have all scored valuable points at our conference championships and hold an impressive 21 school records amongst them. My heart hurts for each of them that they lost the chance to compete in this year’s outdoor season. Although the outdoor season was cut, I couldn’t be more proud how they finished their indoor campaign. They will forever be a special part of this program and I look forward to seeing them in person again to let them know how much I appreciate them as athletes and the individuals they have grown into.”
