Week 1 - September 5, 2023

NE10 Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Cole Duval, Bentley
Senior | Tolland, Mass. 

Duval was Bentley's top finisher at the season opening Suffolk Short Course Classic. He finished with a time of 16:02.2 to place 11th out of 159 runners, including Division I programs.


NE10 Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Isabel Marsh, Adelphi
Graduate Student | East Meadow, N.Y.

In just her first outing of 2023, Marsh set a new meet record and was crowned the 5K Champion at the Panther Invitational with a time of 18:15.10. Marsh's time was a new meet record by over fifteen seconds, thereby breaking the previous record of 18:31.4 from 2018. She also shattered her previous PR by over 45 seconds, dusting the field by over forty seconds in the process at this year's meet.


NE10 Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Anthony Manna, Assumption
Freshman | West Warwick, R.I.

Clark finished 25th out of 159 runners at the Suffolk Short Course Invite, as he finished the 5k in 16:38.8.


NE10 Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

Tess Drury, Saint Michael's
Freshman | Richmond, Vt.

Drury won the Shacklette Invitational in her college debut on Saturday, clocking in at 23:45.8 during the 6K to best her runner-up teammate by 30.3 seconds. Drury topped the 48-woman field to help Saint Michael's place second, just three points short of reigning NCAA East Regional Championship titlist Southern New Hampshire.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Diego Llanos, Adelphi (Sr. - Fresh Meadows, N.Y.)
Against a competitive field at the annual Panther Invitational, Llanos just missed finishing outside the Top 10 with a 26:45.5 in the 8K. His run placed him 11th amongst a field of 129 runners. 

Franciscah Cherotich, American International (Jr. - Kapenguria, Kenya)
Cherotich finished third at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational, taking the bronze in a field that included 15 Division I athletes.

Caitlin Burmester, Bentley (Jr. - Willow Grove, Pa.)
Burmester was Bentley's top finisher at the season opening Suffolk Short Course Classic. She finished with a time of 11:23.3 to place 10th out of 147 runners.

Nora Conway, Saint Anselm (Jr. - Stoneham, Mass.)
Nora was the top finisher at the Hawks season-opening meet, crossing the line in 24:38.0, good for third overall in the field of 48 runners. 

Chris Hogan, Saint Anselm (Sr. - Plymouth, Mass.)
Hogan paced the Hawks, finishing in seventh place at the Shacklette Invite, crossing the line in 29:14.1.

Noah Taracena, Saint Michael's (Sr. - Hampton, N.H.)
Taracena won the 35-runner Shacklette Invitational on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 27:20.5 during the 8K to eclipse Southern New Hampshire's runner-up by 13.0 seconds. The Purple Knights claimed second as a team, coming within three points of the Penmen.

Matthew Waruch, Saint Rose (Jr. - Accord, N.Y.)
Waruch crossed the line in first place in the Albany College of Pharmacy Panther Open on Saturday. He posted a winning time of 17:55.4 to earn the top spot in the men's 5K.

Dillon Labonte, SNHU (Sr. - Lee, N.H.)
Labonte had a strong start to his season, running second at the Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm College. His time of 27:33.5 improved his run in the race from last year by about 52 seconds.

Corrina Obernesser, SNHU (So. - Westminster, Colo.)
Obernesser, last year's NE10 Rookie of the Year, finished fourth at the Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm on Saturday. Her time was 25:04.2.
