Drury, Volpe Claim NE10's Top Finishes at NCAA Championship

RESULTS

JOPLIN, Mo. – Southern Connecticut State sophomore Jonathon Volpe, the 2022 NE10 champion, carried the banner for the conference at the 2023 NCAA DII championships Saturday, finishing the men's 10k in 30:53.1, good for 76th place.  Saint Michael's rookie Tess Drury was the league's top female, placing 89th in the 6K in 21:29.3.  Drury finished 14th among freshmen while also claiming Saint Michael's 6K race record.

The NE10 had four teams and six individuals competing in Joplin across both the men's and women's races.  SCSU finished 30th in women's race and 32nd in the men's.  Southern New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce each finished 33rd for the women and men respectively.  

Southern Connecticut State's women had the best team finish for any school coming out of the east region.  

NE10 Athletes of the Year, Wondu Summa (Franklin Pierce) and Katherine Marsh (Adelphi), finished in 87thand 155th in the men's and women's races respectively.
