New Haven Tops Regional Rankings For Second Straight Week

South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven football team is ranked first in the NCAA Division II Super Region One Regional Rankings that were released earlier this week. The Chargers are 8-1 overall this season, but a perfect 8-0 in region play, which is what the rankings are based on. They also took the top spot in the first poll released last week as well.

New Haven has a perfect 6-0 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play this season, and can clinch the regular season title with a victory at Pace this weekend.

Also appearing once again in the Super Region One rankings for a second straight week is Southern Connecticut State University at No. 7.

The Owls are currently 7-1 in regional play, with their only loss coming to top-ranked New Haven last month. So. Connecticut is coming off a 16-6 victory over Stonehill last weekend in the snow and will take on Merrimack College this Saturday.

This marks the second of three regional polls, which will be announced prior to the field being selected for the 2011 NCAA Division II Football Championship. The third and final poll will be announced next Monday, November 7 and the NCAA Championship field will be announced on Sunday, November 13.
