Merrimack Earns Top Seed for Upcoming Northeast-10 Men’s Soccer Championship

South Easton, Mass. – Merrimack College won the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer regular season title and will be the top seed when the Championship gets underway Wednesday, October 31.

The Warriors finished the conference portion of their schedule with a mark of 10-2-1, earning 31 points, one more than Southern New Hampshire University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell, which each finished with 30 points in league play.

After beginning their NE-10 slate 0-2, Merrimack went on to finish undefeated over their last eleven games (10-0-1) en route to a Northeast-10 title earning the top seed in the conference championship, which begins play Monday.

The Northeast-10 Conference will be broadcasting the men's soccer championship final live at northeast10.org and northeast10.tv Sunday, November 4 at 1:00 p.m. The Conference will also be providing live updates of all conference championship games on their Twitter feed (@TheNortheast10).

Merrimack, which has only allowed three goals over their last eleven games, will open championship play against American International College, which earned the eighth seed. So. New Hampshire was awarded the second-seed, while UMass Lowell will be the third seed. Bentley University will host the final quarterfinal game as the fourth seed, when they take on, defending NE-10 Champion, Franklin Pierce University in an opening round matchup. Le Moyne College is the sixth seed, while Southern Connecticut State University will be the seventh seed.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 5,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country.
