SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently announced its team
academic awards for the 2011-12 academic year, with eight
Northeast-10 Conference programs earning recognition.

In order to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award, a team must post a
collective grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Both the Merrimack College men’s and women’s teams were
both honored, as the men posted a 3.17 GPA while the women had a
3.37 GPA.
The other six Northeast-10 teams honored were all women’s
soccer programs.
American International College posted the top GPA (3.44) among the
conference schools recognized. Also earning recognition was Le
Moyne College (3.30), University of New Haven (3.27), Saint
Michael’s College (3.15), The College of Saint Rose (3.24)
and Southern Connecticut State University (3.16).
The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 16 NCAA Division
II colleges and universities located in New England and New York
that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic
opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year,
4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships
in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the
country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within
the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive
program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
