Adelphi to Host New Haven in Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Title Game on Sunday

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Top-seeded Adelphi University, ranked No. 1 in the country, earned its spot in the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship game with a 14-5 victory over fourth-seeded Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon at Motamed Field.

In Saturday's other semifinal contest, second-seeded and fourth-ranked University of New Haven held off third-seeded Saint Anselm College, 15-14, to seal its spot in Sunday's championship tilt, which will get underway at 3:00 p.m. The game will broadcast live online at no cost at northeast10.tv

#1 ADELPHI 14, #4 STONEHILL 5 - BOX
Adelphi junior Alex Froccaro registered four goals and an assist to lead the Panthers offensively on Saturday, while freshman and Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year Jackie Jahelka added three scores in the win. Sophomores Rachel O'Brien and Emily Kessling both had two goals apiece.

In goal, Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year and sophomore Taylor Hayes stopped three of the eight shots she faced for Adelphi, while Stonehill junior goalkeeper Ashley Armstrong made 12 saves in the losing effort for the Skyhawks. 

#2 NEW HAVEN 15, #3 SAINT ANSELM 14 - BOX
New Haven junior and 2014 Northeast-10 Midfielder of the Year Kathryn Campbell led the way offensively for the Chargers Saturday, scoring four times and handing out two assists in the victory. Senior Marissa Fisher potted three tallies, while sophomore Courtney Ackland, sophomore Corinne Fisher, senior Nicole McKee and sophomore Maya Szymanski all had two apiece.

For Saint Anselm, junior Kelly Pickett had a game-high five goals in the loss, while junior Sarah Doherty scored four times. 

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship.
