WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption College women's lacrosse team has welcomed Aislynn Burns as the newest member of its team, as announced on Friday afternoon at Laska Gym.

The Hounds held Aislynn's Draft Day as the team has partnered with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that partners sick children with collegiate athletic teams throughout the country. The women's lacrosse team becomes the fourth Assumption team to be involved with the group, joining football, baseball and women's soccer.

As part of her "Draft Day", Aislynn signed her national letter of intent to become a part of the Greyhounds lacrosse program as she was joined by her parents and members of this year's women's lacrosse team.

A group of team members first met Aislynn, and her mother, Tara, on campus in mid-November to show her around the facilities and the Multi-Sport Stadium, the home field for the Greyhounds women's lacrosse team. The team and Aislynn also attended the Assumption volleyball game that afternoon, where she had the opportunity to meet the school's mascot, Pierre the Greyhound.

"We could not be more excited for Aislynn to join our lacrosse family," said Assumption College head coach Abbey Capobianco. "At such a young age, she has already been through more than any child should and will be constant motivation for our team to be better on and off the field. We are looking forward to having her on the sidelines at practices, games and other team activities."

Aislynn is a seven-year old from Worcester, Mass. who in 2012 was diagnosed with Primary Immune Deficiency, which means her body cannot fight off infection. In addition, she is also affected by Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction (CIP) and Growth Hormone Deficiency.

"Aislynn has so much personality and will bring a whole new dynamic to the team," said coach Capobianco.

The Hounds open the 2014 season on Saturday, March 1st at home vs. Queens College. That game is slated for a 1 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
