Yonker Named D2CCA Third Team All-America.
MANSFIELD, Mass. –Adelphi's Jamie Yonker highlighted the release of Volleyball All-America honors this week by both the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) - one of 10 players from the Northeast-10 Conference to be recognized.
Yonker was selected to the D2CCA All-America Third Team, the first Adelphi volleyball player to ever earn that distinction from the D2CCA, and the first Panther to win All-America honors since Sara Bisbe was an AVCA Honorable Mention All-America choice in 2018. She was also named AVCA East Region Player of the Year and NE10 Libero of the Year.
The NE10 had 10 players from four teams earn AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors, including Yonker as part of a league-high four selections from Adelphi. American International had three selections - second-most among NE10 programs - while New Haven had Macy Brown, the D2CCA East Region and NE10 Player of the Year, and Michelle Henwood, the NE10 Setter of the Year.
Yonker is a three-time NE10 Libero of the Year, as she led all conference players in digs (475) and ranked second in digs per set (5.11) during the regular season. She helped Adelphi to a share of the NE10 volleyball regular season title and the top seed in both the NE10 Championship and NCAA Division II East Regional. She was joined on the AVCA Honorable Mention list by teammates Noelle Alberda, Lilyen McCarthy and Macarty McQueen.
It is the second-straight season that AIC landed three players on the AVCA Honorable Mention list, with this year's recipients being Aleksandra Ivanovic, Paola Soto Burgos and Amber Williams. Southern New Hampshire, the 2022 NCAA East Region champion, was represented by Ana Pimenta.
