Saint Michael's Men, Bentley Women to Serve as Regional Hosts
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The NCAA announced its selections for the Division II Men's & Women's Basketball Championships on Sunday night and the Northeast-10 Conference had eight programs selected - including the top seeds in the East Region with the Saint Michael's men and Bentley women. Both teams will serve as the host for their respective regional site.
The NCAA DII Women's Basketball East Regional begins on Friday at the Dana Center's Barbara Stevens Court and five NE10 teams will be competing, including top-seeded Bentley against No. 8-seeded Mercy. The Falcons won their third-consecutive, and 23rd overall, NE10 Championship title on Sunday with a 64-49 victory over Southern Connecticut. With the win, Bentley punched a ticket for its 38th appearance in the NCAA Championship. No Division II team in the nation has competed in more NCAA championships, played in more NCAA games (104) or posted more wins (65) than Bentley.
Assumption, the reigning NCAA DII East Region champion, earned the No. 2 seed and will play No. 7-seeded Franklin Pierce. Saint Rose, the No. 3 seed, takes on No. 6-seeded Daemen, while No. 5-seeded Southern New Hampshire will compete against one-loss Jefferson, the No. 4 seed in the Regional. Both Bentley and Assumption won a share of the NE10 regular season trophy this year.
It is the fifth-straight season that the NE10 has had at least four women's basketball programs in the NCAA Championship field.
NCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BRACKET
The NCAA DII Men's Basketball East Regional begins on Saturday at Saint Michael's. It will be the first time since 1960 that Saint Michael's has hosted the regional behind a strong year that led to it earning the NE10 regular season championship. The Purple Knights finished with a 17-5 record in conference play, exceeding expectations in historic fashion on their way to the top seed in this year's NE10 Championship.
The NE10 had three men's basketball programs selected - including No. 3-seeded Southern New Hampshire, the 2024 NE10 champion, and No. 8-seeded Southern Connecticut, the 2024 NE10 finalist. Saint Michael's and Southern Connecticut will play against each other in the first round, while Southern New Hampshire will play No. 6-seeded Bloomfield. For SNHU, it was the program's first NE10 Championship title since 2016.
NCAA Digital has partnered with Hudl to utilize the Hudl platform to stream all regionals games and the Elite Eight. Contests will be webcast on NCAA.com, the Hudl platform and an OTT app - "NCAA Championships Pass". Fans have three viewing options: $9.95 per contest, $29.95 for all Division II Men's Basketball Championship games excluding the semifinals and championship game, and $49.95 for all Division II Men's and Women's Basketball Championship games, excluding the semifinals and championship games. The semifinals and finals of the DII Men's Basketball Championship will be carried on CBS Sports Network and CBS, respectively.
