FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today The College of Saint Rose announced that they will cease academic instruction after the end of the 2023-2024 academic year. Saint Rose, a valued member of the Northeast-10 Conference since 2000, will conclude its membership in the league prior to the start of the 2024-25 academic year.

"The Northeast-10 is obviously saddened by this news and our primary concern is for the students, staff and faculty at The College of Saint Rose. We understand that this decision is an extraordinarily difficult one and the NE10 membership and Conference staff will support Saint Rose in whatever manner we can as they move forward with plans that will ultimately result in the ceasing of Saint Rose operations," said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert. "Saint Rose has enjoyed success on a conference, regional and national level and has been an important member of this league for more than two decades, including earning the NE10's first national championship in Women's Soccer in 2011. Current and former Golden Knight coaches, administrators, and student-athletes have made great contributions to the NE10. We will celebrate the legacy of Saint Rose athletics and their time in the NE10 as the academic year continues. We do anticipate full participation by Saint Rose athletics during the spring semester and while this announcement is very difficult for the student-athletes, coaches, and staff members involved and for our conference members, we are grateful that Saint Rose student-athletes will have the opportunity to complete their playing seasons this academic year."   

Ruppert finished her statement by saying, "We continue to work to enhance conference membership despite a difficult landscape to navigate within higher education and intercollegiate athletics. The NE10 is an excellent Division II conference with an outstanding reputation and rich history of successful athletic programs and outstanding student-athletes who have achieved great things on and off the field. We look forward to continued excellence from and for all our NE10 stakeholders."
