INDIANAPOLIS – Caitlin
Brauer, who graduated last May with a master's
degree from The College of Saint Rose after completing only her
fourth year at the school, was among a mere thirty women, selected
from a group of more than 450 nominees, who were honored Sunday
evening at the 2013 NCAA Woman of the
Year celebration.
Ten women from each of the three divisions, spanning various NCAA
sports, were selected for reflecting the pillars of the Woman of
the Year award, with outstanding achievements in academics,
athletics, community service and leadership.
Brauer certainly belongs in such elite company. Among her numerous
accolades, she was honored this past summer by
the Northeast-10 Conference as both its Woman of the Year
and the Outstanding Female Scholar-Athlete.
A Capital One Academic All-American® in 2012-13, Brauer is the
most decorated female swimmer to ever hit the water for Saint Rose.
She closed out her career with her name etched besides seven
individual school records and as part of four record-setting relay
teams.
Brauer qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of her four
years after becoming the first female to ever represent the Golden
Knights at that meet. She was furthermore recognized by the College
Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as a Scholar
All-American in each of her final three years.
Brauer was also active in a number of community engagement
projects throughout her collegiate career. The former team captain
served for two years as Treasurer of the Delta Mu Delta Business
Honor Society and as a volunteer for several entities including,
the Clifton Park/Halfmoon Piranhas Swim Club, the Friday Knights
Youth Program at Saint Rose, and Relay for Life.
