NE10 Women's Soccer Report: Week 7

Women's Soccer - Week 7

Week 7 - October 10, 2022

NE10 Player of the Week

Salome Kerguillec, Franklin Pierce
Sophomore | Midfield/Forward | Landerneau, France

Chalked up five points, on two goals and one assist, in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. Did all her damage in Wednesday night's 5-0 romp over AIC at home, as she scored at the 16-minute mark, and again in the 50th minute, before adding an assist in the 52nd minute as well. Attempted four shots on the week, including two on goal.

NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Aino Martikainen, Franklin Pierce
Junior | Back | Järvenpää, Finland

Keyed a defensive effort which surrendered just one goal and nine shots on goal in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. Also scored a goal and attempted seven shots (two on goal) at the other end of the field. On Wednesday night at home, the Ravens held AIC to just four shots on goal in a 5-0 shutout, and also scored in the 68th minute. On Saturday afternoon at Pace, the Setters mustered just five shots on goal as the Ravens picked up a 2-1 victory.

NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week

Emilie Fox, Franklin Pierce
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Bridgewater, Mass.

Fox was beaten just once over 172:40 of work in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens. She made eight saves against nine shots, to post an 0.52 GAA, an .889 save percentage, and a 2-0-0 record. On Wednesday night at home against AIC, she stopped all four shots she faced over 82:40. On Saturday at Pace, Fox went the distance and made four saves against five shots.

NE10 Rookie of the Week

Madison Apicella, Adelphi
Freshman | Midfield/Forward | Holbrook, N.Y.

In helping the Panthers stretch their unbeaten streak to their longest since 2017, Apicella had a hand in both of Adelphi's goals in a 2-0 win over Bentley on Friday. She bent in a corner for the assist on Alexa Mihale's game-opening goal in the sixth minute. Then, while shorthanded, Apicella -- with her left foot -- found the top-left netting in the 28th minute for her league-leading sixth goal of the 2022 campaign.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Lydia Fraga Cordoba, Adelphi (Gr., GK - Madrid, Spain)
After Adelphi's starting keeper was sent off in the 18th minute, Lydia Fraga Cordoba - seeing her first action since Aug. 31 - picked up the pieces in fine fashion. She stopped all five shots she faced, with her team down to 10 players, in helping to preserve a 2-0 shutout over Bentley.

Kayla Mushorn, Adelphi (Jr., D - Massapequa, N.Y.)
After scoring her first goal of the season last week at Pace, Mushorn - with her team down to 10 players on a red card - helped keep Bentley off the board for the full 90 minutes, and also - with Adelphi leading 1-0 and shorthanded - made a long run that resulted in a key goal to stretch the lead to 2-0.

Avery Lein, American International (Fr., GK - Farmingville, N.Y.)
Lein had a tremendous debut in her first collegiate start. At Saint Anselm, she turned back five shots, helping the Yellow Jackets to a 2-1 win against the Hawks.

Haleigh Ward, Assumption (So., F - North Kingston, R.I.)
Scored a goal in both games this week. Ward started the scoring in the comeback win against Daemen on Tuesday, before opening the scoring in Assumption's 2-1 road win at New Haven on Sunday.

Katie Escobedo, St. Michael's (Sr., GK - New Rochelle, N.Y.)
Escobedo made three saves in a 1-0 win over UMaine-Fort Kent, ranked No. 1 in the USCAA Division I national poll, on Tuesday.

Victoria Roulston, Southern N.H. (Jr., B/M - E. Falmouth, Mass.)
Roulston scored her first goal of the season and the second of her career to tie the match in the 58th minute, as SNHU drew No. 9 Saint Rose, 1-1, Saturday.
