Franklin Pierce Leads NE10 with Two Academic All-Americans
MANFIELD, Mass. – Three Northeast-10 soccer student-athletes were selected as College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-Americans, as announced by the organization last week.
Franklin Pierce had two selections, one from the men's team and one from the women's. Senior Kosta Maniatis was the men's selection, after achieving a 3.70 GPA as an accounting major. Maniatis was named NE10 All-Conference First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team, D2CCA All-East Region First Team, D2CCA All-America Second Team, and CSC Academic All-District all during the 2022 season. He is joined by fellow Raven, and the only NE10 women's soccer student-athlete to earn All-America status, Aino Martikainen.
The junior defender, Martikainen, earned a 4.00 GPA as a psychology major in the fall. She is First Team selection for United Soccer Coaches All-East Region and All-America, D2CCA All-East Region and All-America, and NE10 All-Conference. Martikainen was also honored as a CSC Academic All-District player.
Also earning First-Team Academic All-America honors is Southern New Hampshire's Luca Shubitidze. Shubitidze, a junior business administration-sport management major, posted a perfect 4.00 GPA. He also earned CSC Academic All-District, United Soccer Coaches East All-Region Second Team and NE10 All-Conference Second Team accolades this season
