UNITED SOCCER COACHES RELEASE
Franklin Piece and Saint Rose Represented.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Six women's soccer players from Franklin Pierce and Saint Rose represented the Northeast-10 Conference in the recent announcement of All-America honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and United Soccer Coaches.
Franklin Pierce's Aino Martikainen, the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year, was the only conference player to earn a First Team selection from both organizations. Joining Martikainen on the United Soccer Coaches First Team was Saint Rose's Mia Klammer, the East Region Player of the Year, and Sanna Rein.
Martikainen led Franklin Pierce's defense, which allowed only 0.84 goals per game this season. She was a five-time NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, while also contributing on the offensive side with six goals and three assists (15 points). She helped the Ravens to their first East Region title in 15 years.
Klammer had another brilliant offensive season, accounting for 12 goals and 15 assists for a league-high 39 points to lead Saint Rose's scoring attack. On the opposite side of the ball, Rein was the key to Saint Rose's defense being ranked fifth nationally in goals against average (0.52). The Golden Knights won their third-consecutive NE10 Championship this season.
The Golden Knights had four players earn All-America status, while the Ravens had two players selected. Klammer and Martikainen earned recognition from both the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches.
Saint Rose's Pia Bozic, the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year, earned Second Team All-America from United Soccer Coaches. Franklin Pierce's Jasmine Perez-Acosta and Saint Rose's Lauren Amerena were Third Team selections.
