SNHU's AJ Cavotta Advances to NCAA Championship Field.
VICTOR, N.Y. - Southern New Hampshire finished in fifth place of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Atlantic/East Regional on Saturday - the best finish among the six NE10 programs competing - at the Ravenwood Golf Club (Par 72). The Penmen were +25 (889) as a team in the three-round tournament, coming up just short of advancing to the NCAA finals.
Le Moyne finished in 12th place at +42 (906), while Assumption - the reigning NE10 champion - placed 13th with a +43 (907). Franklin Pierce, Bentley and Saint Anselm rounded-out the leaderboard, finishing in 18th, 19th and 20th place, respectively.
SNHU's AJ Cavotta tied for fourth place individually, the best finish among all NE10 golfers, with a +1 (217) for the week and advances to the NCAA Championship field on May 16-20 at TPC Michigan in Detroit, Mich. His best round was a 2-under, 70 in the first round on Thursday. Franklin Pierce's Michael Sosik tied for sixth place at +3 (219), while Le Moyne's Nicholas Bove tied for eighth place at +4 (220).
Four teams were chosen to advance from the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional: St. Thomas Aquinas (regional champion), Charleston, Gannon and Davis & Elkins College. Jordan Hyland from Davis & Elkins was the individual medalist, finishing the tournament with a 3-under (213).
